Issue 21/2026 — I.D.P. Foundation Partners with Royal Thai Police to Advance Dispute Resolution and Promote Peace in Society

May 28, 2026

NAKHON PATHOM — The Institute for Education and Development of Conflict Management by Peaceful Means Foundation (I.D.P.), led by President Mrs. Prakairatana Thontiravong, alongside board members Mrs. Chanya Chetanasen and Ms. Dujdao Panpanich, recently held an official meeting with Pol. Col. Rittichai Changkham, Deputy Commander of the Institute of Inquiry, Royal Thai Police.

The discussion, held at the Institute of Inquiry in Phutthamonthon, aimed to foster cooperation and prepare I.D.P. personnel—who are certified under the Dispute Resolution Act of 2019—to officially register as mediators for the Royal Thai Police.

Currently, the Thai justice system faces a massive backlog of cases, as citizens traditionally turn to police stations and courts as their first resort when conflicts arise. Recognizing this, the I.D.P. Foundation seeks to integrate its mediation expertise to elevate public service, offering citizens a faster, more efficient alternative for conflict resolution.

During the visit, the Foundation also presented the second edition of its “Mediation Practice Manual for Civil, Criminal, and Restorative Justice” to support the Institute’s future operations and training.

Following the meeting, the Foundation gained comprehensive insights into the registration guidelines for criminal dispute mediators at the inquiry stage. The I.D.P. plans to incorporate this knowledge into its ongoing training programs, contributing to the development of highly qualified mediators for the Royal Thai Police and driving forward the goal of sustainable peace through alternative justice.
